The fifth AGM for the Foundation was held May 27, 2014 in the LGD Council Chambers for our fiscal year ending December 2013.
The Board is pleased to report that the 2013 year was a successful one for the Foundation. Our endowment funds grew by $50,000 thanks to the generosity of Pinawa residents and our corporate sponsors. The Foundation partnered with the community to raise funds for the FWG Mulitpurpose Room and the LGD Legacy Park. The first Gladys Guthrie Memorial Scholarship for a student entering a health related field was awarded to Tessa Trueman at the 2013 Pinawa Secondary School graduation as well as a Citizenship Scholarship awarded to J. Lauze.
The Sign up for Life Campaign (goal of 500 for Pinawa) was supported with enthusiasm by our residents. The statistics show that 1.3% of Manitobans are registered organ donors. Approximately 450 Pinawa residents signed as organ donors. That means 30% of our community are donors.
In 2013 we added 4 new founding members to bring our total to 10 (donations to the endowment funds over $1000). Our life members total 18 (donations over $100).
The Board bid farewell to Connie Plunkett and Jane Sargent who have been with the Foundation since its inception. We wish them both well and thank them for their contributions to our board and our community. The Board welcomes 3 new directors to our board for the upcoming year – Connie Hamon, Cindy Litke and Alf Wikjord.
Thank you to our thoughtful generous community for your support. The Board appreciates you.
