Philanthropy Day A Big Success – Thank-you Pinawa!

pd2016

The Pinawa Foundation had a very successful Philanthropy Day – 2016 on November 19th. For 24 hours, each of the 54 community foundations in Manitoba had the opportunity to participate in the Endow Manitoba’s “24 Hour Giving Challenge”. If a community foundation could raise $10,000 in 24 hours, the Winnipeg Foundation would add an additional $2,000. The Pinawa Foundation was also lucky to have a local company, Acsion Industries, agree to match all donations collected on Philanthropy Day.

The Pinawa 50+ Club started the campaign off again this year with a $1,000 donation. They were quickly joined by over 40 other caring and generous donors as the day progressed, all matched by Acsion. In total, the Pinawa Foundation collected over $102,000 in 24 hours.

“We are so pleased with our campaign and we would like to thank all of the companies, local groups, and individual residents that donated, and the volunteers that worked so hard to make Philanthropy Day so successful” said Chris Saunders, Chairman of the Foundation. “Pinawa is a special, generous community. We were humbled and excited by this level of support. The funds raised today will help us fund important local initiatives at places like the Pinawa CancerCare Facility, the Pinawa Hospital, the Whiteshell School District, and several upcoming seniors’ projects. Thank-you all”.
