Thank-you Pinawa from the Pinawa Foundation

Pinawa’s 50th year has been a very good year for the Pinawa Foundation, thanks to your generosity. “Our third year has been both busy and rewarding”, said Chris Saunders, Chairman of the Board.

Over the past year, the Foundation has received donations from Pinawa groups and individuals totalling $36,500. We have also been notified that the foundation has been included in the estate planning of at least three local families. We provided grants to the community totalling $8,900. Our endowment total is now $165,000. We supported several groups including the:

  • 50th Birthday Committee and the Fender Benders Reunion Committee.
  • School Board with the High School Graduates Display and two scholarships, including the Gladys Guthrie Memorial Award;
  • PSS Parent Advisory Committee – Score Board Project – from the R.T. Drabyk Fund.
  • Core Action Fitness to install an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Celebrity Golf Tournament in support of the Pinawa Arena;
  • Lion’s Club with the Senior’s Christmas Dinner;
  • New Legacy Park;
  • Community Multipurpose Facility Committee looking to upgrade the facilities at the F.W. Gilbert School;
  • We have also continued our partnerships with Investment Planning Counsel of Winnipeg, Acsion Industries, the Pinawa Library, Aeroplan (www.aeroplan.com/donate) and the “Sign Up for Life” Program (www.signupforlife.ca). This organ donor program was a great success, with over 400 Pinawa residents signing up online to help fellow Manitobans.

    Thank-you Pinawa for your support in 2013. Our immediate goal is to reach $200,000 in endowed funds by the end of 2014. Our long-term endowment goal is $1 Million, which will be used to provide at least $35,000 every year to charities and other groups in Pinawa. If you want to learn more or donate to the foundation, please see our web page at www.pinawafoundation.org. You still have until Dec. 31 to donate for the 2013 tax year and receive your charitable gift receipt.
