Summer passed quickly. Here is an update on our activities.
The Thomas Sill Foundation Challenge
Runs from March 2, 2015 to September 1, 2016
The Board of The Pinawa Foundation is happy to report that at the end of the second quarter our endowment funds have grown by $16,500. That is 1/3 of our $50,000 goal at the 1/3 mark of the campaign. Our first payment from the Thomas Sill Foundation will be received when we reach $25,000.
The Thomas Sill Foundation is offering the opportunity to build our endowment fund. Every dollar gifted to the Pinawa Foundation in the next 18 months will be matched 1 for 2 by the Thomas Sill Foundation to a maximum of $25,000. If we raise at least $50,000, we can add another $25,000 to help out all the great groups around Pinawa.
Partnerships
F. W. Gilbert PAC is partnered with the Foundation to raise funds for development and enhancement of a more natural playground at FW Gilbert School. Their goal is to raise $30,000 over the next 3 years. The foundation is accepting donations on their behalf starting April 1, 2015. Donations over $25 are eligible for a tax receipt. Please mention it is for the FWG Playground.
Pinawa Foundation Fall Grant Cycle
The Pinawa Foundation is pleased to announce that we are currently accepting grant proposals for a special fall granting cycle. The Foundation has had a successful financial year to date, thanks to the participation of our local community and our partnership with the Winnipeg Foundation. Granting information and application forms can be found on the Grant Information section of our website.
Forms must be received by 22 October 2015. Grants requests must be for values less than $1000 and applicants must meet the eligibility criteria as set out by the CRA. Applications will be reviewed by the Foundation’s Grant Committee and recommendations put forward to the Board of Directors for approval at our November meeting.
For one day only, November 14th, gifts made to your foundation’s unrestricted fund will be stretched by The Winnipeg Foundation ($1 for every $5 donated) up to a maximum of $2,000 per foundation.
Gifts to your foundation’s unrestricted fund can be made by:
- Credit card online through www.endowmanitoba.ca
- Credit card by phoning The Winnipeg Foundation’s office on Nov 14th
- Cheque delivered to The Winnipeg Foundation’s office before midnight Nov 14th
The community in 2014 gifted the Foundation with $20,000 double the $10,000 goal. If you didn’t participate last year but would like to now mark your calendar for November 14. If you participated last year and would like to again mark November 14 on your calendar.
