Pinawa Puts the P in Philanthropy

The people of Pinawa “rained pennies from heaven” into our endowment fund Saturday, November 15, 2014 said Carol Findlay, Secretary-Treasurer of the Pinawa Foundation.

Saturday, November 15 was National Philanthropy Day. As part of the “24 Hour Giving Challenge”, The Winnipeg Foundation offered the opportunity to stretch all donations made to any of Manitoba’s 51 Community Foundations by 20% (to a maximum of $2,000) on November 15.

The Pinawa 50+ Club kicked off our campaign with a $1,000 donation. Donations rolled in steadily throughout the day. A huge thank you goes out to the Pinawa 50+ Club for their support as well as the individual members who gave so generously. At the end of a great day, Pinawa residents donated $20,000, doubling our target of $10,000.

Thank you, Pinawa for your kindness and generosity. You earned our $2,000 grant from the Winnipeg Foundation. We are proud to live in this community.
