The Pinawa Foundation granted the Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre $1125.00 for their 2012 SARAH Program Annual Volunteer Training.
In recognition of the fine work being conducted on behalf of all residents at risk in our area the Board of Directors was happy to honour the grant request that will be used to train new volunteers.
The SARAH Program is a grass roots initiative delivered by women trained as sexual assault crisis intervention workers, offering their services on a volunteer basis.
The SARAH Program worker is one member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) assembled to support the victim through the traumatic time following a sexually violent experience.
The SARAH project has been in operation since incorporation in 2003. The volunteers are on call 24/7 to provide crisis support for victims and secondary victims of sexual assault in eastern Manitoba. The program is a first contact point for victims, connecting them with regional and provincial support networks.
Pinawa Foundation Chairman Chris Saunders stated that it is worthwhile endeavours conducted by the caring committed individuals of Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre Inc. that earns the support of the Foundation.
