The Pinawa Foundation will be hosting our annual general meeting on June 11 at 12:30 pm at the W.B. Lewis Centre Boardroom. Lunch will be provided. Please plan to attend to meet our board members, hear about our work with the “Youth in Philanthropy” program at the high school, and give your opinions on our 2018 activities and where we hope the foundation is going over the next few years.
The Foundation gave $79,000 to local groups in 2018, including:
- FWG PAC “Natural Playground Project” – $5,800 (Solo Greener Tomorrow Grant) and an additional $5,000 directed donations.
- Pinawa Club Drive 2018 – $15,460 directed donations.
- Community Project Month 2018 – $25,314 directed donations earned the 11 participating groups; $5,062 in top up grants from the Foundation.
- Pinawa Secondary School Scholarships : Cole Petersen – $750;Ashley Bilinsky and Terra Anderstedt: $1500 Gladys Guthrie Memorial Scholarship each.
- Orvile Acres Arena – $2,300 directed donations.
- The Christmas Hamper Committee received $4,935 directed donations.
- Survivor’s Hope, Pinawa Public Library, Pinawa Art 211, Friends of Ironwood Trail, grassroots received grants from the Foundation totaling $4,817.
- Parent Youth Group, grassroots, Lions, Pinawa Cancer Care, Survivor’s Hope – $1,580 directed donations.
- Pinawa Health Auxiliary – $2,338 directed donations.
- Youth in Philanthropy Grants – $2,500.
