The Pinawa Foundation recently held their Annual General Meeting. At the meeting, the Foundation announced grants through their Youth and Philanthropy Group, Community Project Month, and several other miscellaneous grants, totaling over $150,000.
“Pinawa continues to be a very generous community. We also received several donations from people that live outside of Pinawa. Our project partners are very grateful”, said Chris Saunders, Chairman of the Pinawa Foundation.
The Youth in Philanthropy program teaches the students about philanthropy and how to identify and evaluate projects in need. This year, they awarded grants totaling $3,000 to six projects, including at Children’s Place Daycare for sand and water table, Survivor’s Hope for Counseling and Crisis Program promotional items, the Pinawa Arena for new netting and paint for goal nets, Pinawa Hospital for privacy screens, observation room curtains, and patient hygiene products, Pinawa Library for an electronic advertising display television, and Two Rivers Seniors for an office chair, and computer supplies.
